Singles Take Advantage of the Waters of Lake Erie and Ohio’s North Coast.
North Coast Sailing Singles 30th year Anniversary
Cleveland, Ohio October 22, 2016:
Back 30 years ago, a group of single sailboat owners got together and brainstormed how to meet other singles. Before Meet-Ups, Facebook, Tweets, all the social media options available today, meeting like-minded singles was a challenge. They decided to incorporate a not-for-profit sailing club designed for singles over 21 years of age. Fast forward thirty years, North Coast Sailing Singles (NCSS) club supports 154 singles with sailing, power boating, fishing and social activities. NCSS offers sailing education, day sails and weekend boating rendezvous to the Lake Erie Islands, Canadian ports, or the many yacht clubs sprinkled along Lake Erie’s southern shore. Whether a seasoned boater or a wanna-be boater, NCSS club offers northeast Ohio singles a venue to enjoy this beautiful natural resource called Lake Erie.
NCSS schedules a General Membership meeting on the third Wednesday of each month to socialize and hear about the sailing and social events. The meetings are held at Greater-Cleveland area yacht clubs, check the www.northcoastsailingsingles.com website for location. Guests are always welcome. This year’s sailing education included 22 members, whose skills prior to the class spanned from first time boater to the intermediates wanting to learn more in preparation to buying their own boat. With 47 scheduled sails and 6 rendezvous, the membership took advantage of sailing or power boating on the lake. NCSS skipper’s boats are docked along the Lake Erie coast, from Sandusky to Fairport. To participate in sailing events, members must attend a water safety orientation class.
During winter months, the club plans social events to keep the membership together. On October 22nd, NCSS is honoring the club’s boat owners at the annual Skipper’s Party. This event will also double as an anniversary celebration of NCSS 30years.
NCSS supports the north eastern Ohio community with civic activities such as the spring Metro park beach cleanup and 50/50 raffles benefiting charities such as Salvation Army. Local experts speak during the General Meeting such as US Border Patrol and ODNR environmental experts on the effects of algae on Lake Erie.
NCSS mission is a social club for unmarried persons over 21 years of age to gather for the promotion and participation in sailing, social, cultural and civic activities. The club welcomes power and sailboat owners, boating enthusiasts and any singles interested in joining the boating culture available to us in north eastern Ohio. This club agrees – Cleveland is the best location in the nation. ###
